Our Story

Call us misfits, rebels, renegade, we like to recreate things to bring you the unexpected.

Bucky's started off as a home-baking experiment on December 2012 when Miguel found himself baking for family and friends. These dense, fudge-like bars weren't exactly brownies, they were on a league of their own. Together with his wife Raisa, they launched a brownie revolution with these not-a-brownie desserts creating new concepts and creative experiences.

There are over twelve varieties created over the years, some that pay tribute to special people in their lives such as the “Yana Banana" inspired by  Miguel's daughter Yana, and the "Grumpy" an ode to Miguel's father.

Setting up shop

In 2014, Miguel and Raisa opened their first shop, Bucky's Counter on the mezzanine floor of a building along Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes, Paranaque. Primarily a dessert bar with literally just counter space for seating, they designed everything from the lighting fixtures and seats, churning out soft serve ice cream, parfaits, Buckys and more.  In 2016, Justin Golangco joined the team in creating their first food concept in a little hole-in-the-wall space in Poblacion, Makati. The concept of “not a brownie” was taken even further to create simple savory food, using premium quality ingredients at an accessible price. A concise menu consisting of childhood favorites was developed with the the idea of creating comforting, familiar food done right.

A labor of love

Today, Miguel continues to run the business with his wife, Raisa. They are very grateful to the family and friends who have helped them along the way.

Driven by the goal to bring you creative experiences - from unexpected concoctions to delightful packaging or anything that will make you smile, Bucky's was and (still is) a labor of love.
